“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5)
Many of us struggle with fully submitting to and trusting the Lord. It’s easy to sing songs and speak as though we trust him but our actions do not match our words.
For God to be Lord over your life, that means he is over all, sovereign, your life is lived in submission to his will. Sometimes there are things that we struggle with submitting to the Lord; our desires, jobs, aspirations. What would happen if the Lord told you to lay it down? Would you yield to his instruction, or wrestle with him because it’s just too hard for you to let go?
When you learn to truly trust in the Lord and submit everything you do to him, there’s no choice but for your paths to be straight. Confusion can’t exist where the Lord is guiding us. Reflect on the things that you have worked on or areas that you expect to see success. Have you submitted this very thing to the Lord? Have you communed with him to know the areas in which you’re supposed to go? If not, I urge you to seek him first above all other things. It would be shame to never fulfill the things the Lord has set out for you to do because you were too busy trying to do it on your own.
